Coalition Coordinator Calls for Community Solutions to Northern Insecurity

Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the National Coordinator of the Coalition, addressed reporters about the pressing insecurity in Northern Nigeria, describing it as a pervasive issue that requires a lasting solution.

Charanchi emphasized that the time for mere lamentation has passed, as nearly all Nigerians recognize the severity of the situation. "People can no longer afford three square meals; in fact, many struggle to manage even one meal a day," he noted.

He stated, "Insecurity is very much present in the North. It has become evident that our leaders are not adequately addressing these challenges. Furthermore, we all have a role to play in finding solutions to escape this crisis."

Following a stakeholders roundtable in Abuja, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has decided to engage local communities to ensure that every member understands how they can contribute to alleviating insecurity and economic hardship in the region.

"The primary goal is for communities to recognize their role in addressing the issues affecting the North. Participants, primarily leaders from various organizations, have been carefully selected. After this meeting, we will instruct these leaders to convene with their members and share the insights gained here," he concluded.
