Cameroon Government Prohibits Media from Reporting on President Biya's Health

The Cameroonian government has issued a ban on media discussions regarding the health of President Paul Biya, Africa's second-longest-serving leader, amid rumors that the 91-year-old is seriously ill, according to a document obtained by AFP. Biya, who is the world's oldest leader, has not made a public appearance since early September, leading to widespread speculation about his health.

The document, dated October 9 and signed by Territorial Administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji, stated, "The head of state is the principal institution of the republic, and discussions about his condition are a matter of national security." It emphasized that all media discussions concerning the president's health are officially prohibited.

Marked with a red stamp indicating "highly urgent," the document warned that anyone violating this order would face severe legal consequences.
