California First State to Prohibit Specific Synthetic Food Dyes in School Cafeterias

California has officially become the first state to outlaw certain synthetic food dyes in public school cafeterias.

This new legislation focuses on dyes found in popular snacks like Froot Loops and Flamin' Hot Cheetos, driven by concerns over their association with behavioral problems, particularly hyperactivity in children with ADHD.

The law, which aims to safeguard children's health, will be implemented by the end of 2027 and follows a similar measure enacted in 2023 that targeted other harmful additives
