Godswill Akpabio, a former Niger Delta minister, won the election to lead the Senate on Tuesday by defeating his rival, Abdul'aziz Yari.
After receiving 63 votes to Senator Yari's 46, Mr. Akpabio, who was chosen by the ruling party, was re-elected as President of the 10th Senate.
