THE BEREKETE GIST OF AMVCA 9TH EDITION.

 

 

The 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held in grand style at the prestigious Eko Hotel in Lagos on the 20th of May 2023. The event was a night filled with glamour and elegance as celebrities from the entertainment industry gathered to celebrate and honour outstanding talent. “As e dey happen blog” was present at the event, along with numerous media companies, ensuring that every moment was captured and shared with the world. 

 

The red carpet session, expertly conducted by Heritage, set the tone for the evening, with a dazzling display of fashion and style. Celebrities and nominees graced the event, showcasing their unique and captivating looks. The winners of the AMVCA 9th edition were announced amidst excitement and anticipation. The list of winners represented a diverse range of talent and creativity from across Africa. Samuel Perry, also known as Broda Shaggi, won the Best Actor in a Comedy award for his remarkable performance. 

 

Bimbo Ademoye received the Best Actress in a Comedy award for her outstanding portrayal in the series “Selina.” 

 

Tobi Bakre was honoured with the Best Actor in a Drama award for his captivating role in “Brotherhood.” 

 

Osas Ighodaro was recognized as the Best Actress in a Drama for her remarkable performance in “Man of God.” 

The evening continued with the presentation of awards in various categories, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Short Film, Best Original Telenovela, Best Online Social Content Creator, Best Original Comedy Series, Best Original Drama Series, and many more. 

 

The event reached its climax with the announcement of the Best Overall Movie, which went to “Anikulapo,” directed by Kunle Afolayan. The film showcased exceptional storytelling and cinematography, captivating the audience and leaving a lasting impression. 

 

In addition to celebrating outstanding talent, the AMVCA 9th edition also honoured industry veterans. Patience Ozokwor received the Industry Merit Award, recognizing her remarkable contributions to the Nigerian film industry. The Trailblazer Award was presented to Angel Onigwe, acknowledging her as a rising star and a trailblazer in the industry.
