Chidimma Adetshina, the current Miss Universe Nigeria, has shared her reasons for removing her X account amid criticism regarding her nationality and her recent pageant win. After withdrawing from the Miss South Africa competition due to allegations against her mother, Adetshina discussed her experience in a recent interview on Arise 360. She revealed that the constant barrage of negative comments on social media became too much for her, leading to her choice to leave the platform. While she still engages on Instagram, she has had to restrict comments to protect herself from negativity. "I had to delete it because it was overwhelming for me," Adetshina explained. "I tend to read every comment, and it took up a significant part of my day. The toxicity became too much. I've limited comments on Instagram as well." Despite the backlash, she remains grateful for the support from her fans but understands the risks they face when voicing their opinions. "Many people say they like me but are hesitant to express their support publicly, which is understandable. I don't want them to face backlash for standing by me."
