Asari Dokubo Accuses Nigerian Military of Involvement in Niger Delta Oil Bunkering

Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has made serious allegations against members of the Nigerian military, claiming they are the primary orchestrators of oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta. In a recent press conference, Dokubo asserted that it is not local ethnic groups like the Ijaws and Ogonis who are behind these illegal operations, but rather soldiers who exploit the local population.

"Since they don’t want us to keep secrets, we won’t keep it," Dokubo stated during a live session, emphasizing his intention to expose the truth. He further revealed that President Bola Tinubu had encouraged him to speak out about the military's alleged involvement in oil theft.

According to Dokubo, the military uses locals as intermediaries in the illegal oil trade, providing them only a fraction of the profits. "It is not the Ijaws, Ogonis, or any other ethnic group behind the oil bunkering, but soldiers who use them and give them peanuts," he claimed.

These allegations add to the ongoing discourse surrounding oil theft in the Niger Delta, a region long plagued by corruption and conflict over its rich natural resources
