AFCON 2025 Qualifier: Benin Coach Rohr Explains 3-0 Loss to Super Eagles

Benin Republic's head coach, Gernot Rohr, has shared his thoughts on their 3-0 defeat to Nigeria in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier held on Saturday.

Earlier, the Cheetahs had secured a 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles during a 2026 World Cup qualifier in June. However, on Sunday, the three-time African champions showcased their strength.

Ademola Lookman scored twice, and Victor Osimhen added another goal at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Rohr commented on the match, saying, “We were able to defeat them in Abidjan, which fueled their motivation for revenge, as is to be expected. Moreover, playing at home, with key players like captain Ekong, Aina, and Osimhen back in the lineup, made a significant impact.”
