AFCON 2023: Mali joins the African festival.

Mali have secured their qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which is the 34th Edition of the biennial event organized by CAF scheduled to be played in Ivory Coast between January 2024 to February the same year.

Mali booked their ticket courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Congo at the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Debat in Brazzaville. Goals from Ibrahima Kone and Nene Dorgeles helped Mali secure qualification to the AFCON finals from Group G.

The Eagles would be making their thirteenth appearance in the competition.

This edition of the tournament was supposed to be the 3rd taking place in the summer of 2023 since the 2019 edition but CAF announced a decision to postpone it to 2024 on the 3rd of July, 2022 due to weather concerns in the host country during the summer.
