Acclaimed composer and songwriter Errollyn Wallen has been named the new Master of the King's Music by King Charles.

Acclaimed composer and songwriter Errollyn Wallen has been named the new Master of the King's Music by King Charles. Wallen, who was born in Belize and is a British citizen, has made significant contributions to classical music in the UK. She composed music for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London and was the first Black woman to have a work featured at the prestigious Proms classical music festival.

 "I am delighted to accept this royal appointment," Wallen stated. The position of Master of the King's Music was established during the reign of King Charles I, and it is awarded by the sovereign to a musician who enhances the musical heritage of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
